WHY WE STARTED

In 2019, Connor became a certified Military Working Dog (MWD) handler and was assigned to MWD Rex at Whiteman AFB, Missouri. Connor and MWD Rex spent endless hours conducting explosive sweeps for the security of the Air Force installation. In August of 2022, Connor received a call that Rex was ready to retire and looking for someone to adopt him. On August 19th Rex was officially retired after 8 years of service. After adopting Rex, we brought him home to Florida. On August 26th 2022, only a week after retirement, we lost our best friend Rex. There is never an easy fix to losing a loved one, especially after knowing he should have had longer. Rex deserved a retirement full of relaxation, laying on the couch and playing with his toys. We were never able to find the proper way of grieving or how to move on from his loss. In order to spread light in a dark time, we wanted to make sure that other fallen K9’s and their handlers are being honored to the full extent. Each time a flag is dedicated to a K9, we can feel the love and gratitude that they had for their K9, as we did for Rex. This is why we do this, to honor our best friend, Rex X230.
